This last weekend Abe and I took a trip down to 1066 Racing in Hastings as we’d missed all our racing dates all week due to the rubbish weather 😭🤬
The chaps at 1066 had decided to race indoors on their EOS carpet so I couldn’t resist taking the trip! 🥳🤩
1066 race at a terrific venue – Horntye Leisure Centre – where the parking is plentiful and secure. Easy road access too once you’ve got to Hastings. I have to say we also could not have been made to feel more welcome by Andy, Chris and Ben plus the locals. No cliques here with locals and the evil eye 👹🙄🤪
1066 run a large track with qualifying based on your three fastest consecutive laps – like the Euros. Indoors I have to say at a club meeting this worked really really well as running 16s laps you could recover from one crash and not pull off to save tyres 😎
The rostrum is the balcony right above the track and at first the perspective was very strange. Depth perception was hard on jumps but as you got used to it, I have to say Abe and I grew to absolutely love it. It reminded me of my 1980’s racing arcade games with a top down view. You can place the car so well! The virtually new EOS carpet was also a blast to race on 🤩
I lined up third in the A with Abe second and Ben on pole. We ran a two leg A final and I was pleased to win overall with a 1 and 2. Ben came in second and Abe was third 🥇🥉
My littlest David was also racing and the club members did everything to help him enjoy his day – which he certainly did!
Next up is the awesome Herts RC track for the Schumacher SOOM!! 🤩🌤🌦🌩🤪
